Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulates Bulgarian counterpart on assuming office

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Friday 15/5/2026, with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Dr. Velislava Petrova-Chamova. During the call, Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty congratulated the Bulgarian Foreign Minister on assuming her new post, wishing her success in her duties. Badr Abdelatty expressed his hope for continued strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, given the remarkable progress witnessed recently. Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of building upon the high-level visits exchanged between the two sides, which contribute to elevating the level of joint cooperation. The Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of holding the second session of the Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation between the two countries in Sofia in the near future, which will enhance the framework of institutional cooperation between the two sides. On the economic file, Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty noted the progress in cooperation between the two countries, expressing his hope for continued joint efforts to increase the volume of trade and boost investments, building upon the achievements of the past period, in a way that serves the common interests of both countries. For her part, the new Bulgarian Foreign Minister affirmed her state’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt in various fields, and to continue coordination and consultation on issues of common interest.
